Odd that Toyota would use the same name later on.
Odd to see this street parked in Australia. All of it is odd.

That is one sharp looking rear end. Literally. Wouldn’t want to get backed into in that thing, but I kind of like the contrast between the gentle curves of the roof and hood with the sharp horizontal lines along the side.

Vauxhall were leaning hard into the American GM brands for design inspiration in that era. Lots of tailfins and bubble roofs.
The Mk1 Victor/Envoy basically just looks like a scaled down 55 Chevrolet. I’ve always enjoyed that.

So was Opel -
The early ‘50s Olympia looked like a scaled down early ‘40s Oldsmobile, the Rekord looked like a mini Pontiac, and the Kapitan certainly had some Chevy/Pontiac stuff going on, too.

Her Majesty had one when she was younger. Though in estate form.

Love it. Such a fun example of trans-Atlantic styling. The vintage Matchbox version of this car is also one of the most desired models of the period.

Her Majesty’s Vauxhall Cresta PA Friary estate is believed to be one of H er Majesty’s favourite cars and had a gun rack and it had fish rod holders on the roof.
While the car is still in the royal collecti on as far as I’ m aware.
It’s licence plate has been transferred to a VW T5 Transporter.
As of 2019 the Vauxhall and the VW are wearing the same plate.
I’m guessing the VW is legal and simply being retained by the palace for future use.

How odd. Weird that hunting
over there is the realm of royalty, I’d apply a very different connotation to American hunting.

No not at all. Most hunters are farm owners and friends. Sometimes they charge for southerners to come up and go shooting, etc...
Two people I know who hunt used to work with me filling shelves on nightshift in a supermarket.
Another one I know, called Kiwi, because he’s well, from New Zealand is a paramedic.
